| The Washington Hawthorn is a gorgeous prized tree for many across the USA! The first thought that comes to mind about this tree is how it is a small native tree, that is absolutely beautiful and not very hard to grow! This is considered a tree that stays on the smaller side so it can fit in many landscapes. It typically grows less than 30' feet in height. The Washington Hawthorn is hardy down to zone 4. The Washington Hawthorn tends to grow in a pyramidal shape naturally so it looks great with little to no pruning. It does have small berries that are beautiful but you should not eat them. The hawthorn also has small thorns on the branches is the main downfall. If the thorns won’t bother you, then this tree is perfect for you and your landscape even if you have a small yard! White flowers in early June start the color show. Reddish-purple leaves turn dark green, then orange, scarlet, or purple. Small, glossy red fruits stay on the Washington Hawthorns into winter and are preferred by songbirds. This Hawthorn is a very important nectar plant for bees! Washington Hawthorns typically hold onto their leaves longer than nearly all other trees being one of the last trees of the season to lose its leaves in the fall. |

All of our trees ship Bareroot which means they will ship with no soil and no pot. This allows the plants to have a safer trip through the mail as well as to cut down on shipping costs majorly. The roots will be carefully removed from the pot they are growing in, and then wrapped in moist material with the roots sealed up to keep them moist during transit.
