Important Information for New Customers

We are thrilled to welcome you to Weaver Family Farms Nursery! To ensure you have the best experience possible, we ask that you read through all the information on this page and explore the resources available on our website. This will help you understand our processes and how to care for your new plants.

Shipping Bareroot Trees

Currently, all our trees and plants are shipped bareroot. But what does bareroot mean? It means the roots are transported without soil. We carefully remove the trees from their pots, gently shake off most of the soil (though some small pieces may remain), and then wrap the roots in a lightweight, moisture-retaining material. This material is wetted and then wrapped in plastic to ensure the roots stay moist during their journey to your home.

Are Bareroot Trees Harder to Grow?

We strongly disagree with the notion that bareroot trees are harder to grow than potted trees. In fact, potted trees often become root-bound and take longer to establish once planted. When you buy a potted tree, you're paying extra for potting soil that you typically don't need. Many people, especially those new to planting trees, can struggle with removing the tree from the pot correctly, which can damage the roots and ultimately harm the tree. By choosing our bareroot trees, you're opting for a more affordable option that's ready to be planted directly in the ground.

Shipping Process

We ship all of our plants using USPS Priority Mail. Our trees are carefully packed to ensure they are protected during transit. With every purchase, you receive a guide full of valuable tips to help you successfully plant and care for your new trees. We're always here to assist with any questions you may have. You can find additional information and support on our Contact Us page.

Handling Transit Shock

It's normal for live plants to experience some transit shock. They may lose a few leaves or appear wilted due to being in a dark box and out of soil. As soon as you receive your tree, open the package immediately and follow our quick tips guide for planting. If you prefer to pot your tree before planting it in the ground, do so promptly and keep it in a slightly shaded area to help it acclimate to sunlight again.

We have a success rate of over 99% with our shipped trees, and we guarantee they will arrive alive. If you order during cooler months (October to April in Missouri), the trees may be dormant and without leaves, but this is completely normal. They are simply in their natural dormant state and will sprout new leaves in the spring.

Our Guarantee and Customer Care

With patience, proper care, and a little bit of your time, your tree will thrive. If your plant arrives damaged, please file a claim with USPS for a refund. You're welcome to reorder, and we'll be happy to offer a discount to make up for any inconvenience. We package our plants meticulously, but sometimes damage can occur during transit. All our shipments come with insurance through USPS Priority Mail.
